This book tends to demonstrate why and how every hippie commune shall fail, through the story of Drop City, the first modern american hippie commune. It is both an exhortation and a guide of rules to build and preserve a commune.
Using archives from the 60’s, the book was a lot inspired by Stewart Brand’s Whole Earth Catalog – a catalog of tools and litterary references for self-education that came out first in 1968, ironically coinciding with when the Drop City founders left the commune at the hands of junkies and violent motorcycle gangs.
