Reflections è il progetto fotografico di Manuel Plantin a.k.a. Yodamanu che indaga sul fascino delle riflessioni del paesaggio urbano sull’asfalto bagnato. Manuel non è un fotografo professionista ma un giornalista, un editore nello specifico, che ama guardare il mondo attraverso un obiettivo, specie se è quello di una Leica. I suoi scatti sono istantanee quotidiane della sua famiglia, dei suoi amici e delle strade della sua città, Strasburgo. Con il suo punto di vista alternativo e anticonvenzionale Plantin offre una visione del mondo nuova e diversa, una realtà sotto-sopra che rivela una natura astratta e intima delle cose.
I shoot it as I frame it, cropped a lot, they wouldn’t make sense. It’s about seeing the reality the other way round on purpose. It’s not about shooting blind before cropping a lot. It’s fun trying because it’s challenging to frame something upside down while you focus ‘upside up’ – you have to try to see what I mean. For those who wonder, there’s not much editing in it either, with strong contrast lenses, a bit of saturation, the occasional weirdness of the Leica M8 sensor and you’re good to go.
