Claudio Parentela is an Italian artist and freelance journalist who lives and works in Catanzaro, Calabria. Active since many years in the international underground scene, he loves to mix different materials and techniques which coexist in his work in a state of unstable equilibrium. An introspective and experimental trip started in 1995 with the first comic story published in the comics zine “Stripburger”, which continues in the his latest series of works entitled “Assemblage”. Fragments of natural materials and everyday objects are subtracted from their context and their function to be combined with the black ink of his illustrations and photos from fashion magazines; the result is a mixture of surreal and ironic images that tell us new and unexpected stories.
