Real Estate Store : fala atelier

Real Estate store is a project by Portuguese architecture firm fala atelier founded by Filipe Magalhães, Ana Luisa Soares and Ahmed Belkhodja in 2013. The project consists in the transformation of an old clothing store in Porto into a real estate agency. Being the building already refurbished in the early 1990s and having a very short budget and lack of time, the architects created a suitable space adding a few elements in a simple spatial organization. To feature partitions and furniture, the studio used different colored types of marble, which in Portugal is a relatively cheap material. Grey marble for the desks, green marble for the partitions between workstations, and black marble for the reception deck. Furthermore the company had a green logo, so the use of the same tone of green marble creates a connection to their identity.

The main space is the work area, connected to the meeting room by a circular window which balances the weight of the marble in the spatial composition and provides natural light into the space. The bathroom, the storage area and the meeting room are located towards the back of the store. The store is illuminated by strips of LED lights along the ceiling and a single round bulb just above the reception desk.
